Closing of PARTZSCH Elektromaschinenbau GmbH - Questions and Answers

By December 31, 2023 we will close PARTZSCH Elektromaschinenbau GmbH. It was with a heavy heart that we had to take this step. In the past eleven years, we have produced more than 200 gearless wind power generators here, which corresponded to approx. 70 percent of the GmbH's turnover. Due to the imbalance in the wind industry – caused by bureaucratic hurdles as well as the increase in heavily subsidised suppliers from abroad who are pushing onto the European market – we did not receive any further orders from our main customer, which makes it impossible for the GmbH to continue in this form.

Here you will find currently important questions and answers. If any of your questions remain unanswered, please feel free to contact Ms Madlen Gabsch at any time on +49 (0) 3431 7166-216 or at madlen.gabsch@partzsch.de.

What is the current situation on the market?

The amount of wind power generated in Germany is expected to double by 2030. To achieve this, wind turbines would have to be erected at three times the normal speed and five turbines per day would have to be put into operation. Long approval procedures and bureaucratic hurdles stand in the way. Heavily subsidised foreign manufacturers are pushing into the European market and even large suppliers to the wind industry, such as Siemens Gamesa, Eickhoff or Vestas, are forced to take advantage of state subsidies, cut jobs or close down companies.

What will happen to the employees of PARTZSCH Elektromaschinenbau GmbH?

Unfortunately, we had to make 57 redundancies. In order to support our existing employees on their further path, we have sought talks with numerous regional companies, personnel service providers and the employment agency.

How does the economic situation of the other companies in the PARTZSCH Group look like?

Thanks to our vertical range of manufacture and flexibility, the order situation of the entire PARTZSCH Group is stable. There are orders for repairs and new productions until 2024. Wire production is expected to have a record year in 2023 with 7,500 tonnes of production. So, all in all, we are looking positively into the future.

What does the closure mean for our customers?

The closure of PARTZSCH Elektromaschinenbau GmbH only affects the production of gearless generators. All other projects will (continue to) be carried out regularly.

  • Orders for the spindle production, which was previously located at PARTZSCH Elektromaschinenbau, will be processed by PARTZSCH Spezialdrähte GmbH in the future.
  • The production of lift motors and parts of the mechanical processing will be carried out at PARTZSCH Elektromotoren GmbH. As before, generators for wind turbine manufacturers will be built here, and generators with and without gearboxes will be serviced.
  • The wind generator service will also continue to be offered by PARTZSCH Windgeneratoren Service GmbH.
